1958 Scarab
1958 Scarab
Originally conceived in 1957 by Lance Reventlow, founder of Reventlow Automobiles, Inc., the Scarab was Reventlow’s American response to the European racecar stronghold. Within one short year, the RAI team had taken the Scarab from the drawing board to the racing circuit, capturing a string of victories, including the 1958 U.S. Grand Prix in Riverside, CA.
The Scarab Featured here is a continuation built by Scarab Motorsports in Kansas. This car is still titled a 1958 and eligible for both road and track use. ARI/VRS received this example as a rolling chassis and quickly mated it to 350 CID Chevy that had been built as a race engine along with a race-built Borg Warner T-10 gearbox.
Also fitted to the engine was a period-inspired Hilborn fuel injection system. This example has Iron heads which make it eligible for SVRA Group 4 sanctioned racing. This car has undergone extensive tuning to make it a capable racer, the suspension has been lowered and other safety items for racing installed.
This is a competitive car and well sorted
Price $155,000
