Targa 66 & HSR Sebring 2011

Brian Redman’s Targa 66 and HSR Sebring February 2011

The weather could not have been better. The ambience was as always, second to none with Brian, James, Marion and Dawn Redman making all feel welcome, while orchestrating hours of hassle and bureaucracy-free track time, allowing each participant to come fully to grips with their machinery.

This is a great event to get a race season started. A chance to be sure all undertakings from winter’s maintenance program are just right and get those trackside juices flowing again. The fact that it segways nicely to HSR’s Sebring the very next weekend, just a short drive away is another plus. Winter 2010-11 had been spent building a combination track and road car Corvette for Alex Heckert and sons to campaign. We were all anxious to see how this dual purpose machine would work. The photos tell the story and a good story it was, finishing the weekend with all shiny side up. The cars and drivers got sorted and ready to tear up the tarmac at races across North America.

Brain and I catch up just a bit Sunday afternoon

Come Sunday night it was time for Jim and Harvey to head north and west for HSR Sebring the next weekend. Sebring went well though Jim’s busy life meant an early exit. He ran both the Datsun 240Z and his Swift S2000 to good effect and was well and truly “raced-out” after this tack time bonanza double header. Harvey packed up the VRS semi and headed home avoiding one of last winter’s nasty snow storms that had threatened as he loaded. A good time was had by all.
